On Tuesday, March 16, some members of student council; Donavon, Jelly, Ryan F, Jarrett, Jarren, Mrs. Nittler, and Mrs. Fairbanks, went to Topeka to participate in a rally against budget cuts in schools. An estimated 2,000 students, parents, and teachers arrived to the rally baring signs with pleas for the budget cuts to end. The slogan of the day was "We want what's right, not what's left!" Speakers at the event included Governor Mark Parkinson, two high school students from Shawnee Heights and the individuals responsible for organizing the event.

Donavon and Jelly make their debuts on channel 49 News.

Jelly, Donavon and Ryan lead the march from the NEA building all the way to the Capitol.

Picket signs begging the legislators to consider the damages their cuts will have to schools, students, and people all over Kansas. StuCo doesn't pass up a chance to snap some pictures during a
self-guided tour of the Capitol Building.

The White City Student Council acts as a governing body, representing student views as needed.  Members serve as hosts and ambassadors of our school for special events held in our building.  StuCo is active in organizing and planning our annual Huskie Expo and the  Fall and Winter Homecoming celebrations.  Members also have the big job of overseeing the concession stand during football and basketball seasons.  Scheduling workers for the concession stand, ordering supplies, and monitoring the concession stand keep Mrs. Fairbanks and the members very busy.
