Entrance Exams

If you plan to attend a college or university, you need to take either the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude (SAT or College Boards).

All Kansas Colleges and universities require the ACT.  If you plan to attend a Vocational school, you may also wish to take the ACT because there is a state scholarship program partially based on ACT scores.  Registration packet are available in the counselor's office.  Click here for online registration for the ACT.

The SAT is required by some out-of-state schools, particularly those on the east and west coast. To determine which entrance exams you should take for a particular school, you can ask Mrs. Carter.  Reference books and computer programs are available that indicate which test is required. Students considering school both in Kansas and in other states may want to take both entrance exams. Registration packets for the SAT are also available in the counselor's office.  Click here for SAT online registration.

In order to prepare for either test, students should carefully study the handbooks that accompany the registration packets.  Each packet contains a practice test, which is important for students to take.
