THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY’S MISSION IS TO CURE LEUKEMIA, LYMPHOMA, HODGKINS’ DISEASE AND MYELOMA AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. By raising funds, our school helps families who need LLS’s Patient Financial Aid program. Yearly, this can help pay for medicines, the doctor or any other treatment-related expenses. How many families will we help through Pennies for Patients?
JUNIORS & SENIORS: On Thursday, March 8th, during 7th hour, a Navy recruiter will be giving a presentation to any of you that have not shared your post-graduation plans. The presentation will take place in the English room. (Mrs. Kasten)
SENIORS: The Yearbook staff needs a baby photo of you for the yearbook. Please bring your photos in by FRIDAY of this week. Please turn them into Ms. Griem in the HS English room. After they are scanned, we will return them to you. We also need your Senior Photo. If you have a digital copy that would be great! DO YOU KNOW WHICH U.S. PRESIDENTS ARE ON THE PENNY, NICKEL, DIME AND QUARTER?? Presidents Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Washington are on our coins. In 2009, the penny got a one-year, four-coin commemorative program marking the 100th anniversary of Lincoln being placed on the cent and the 100th anniversary of his birth. Did you know that the treatments for blood cancer are chemotherapy, radiation and bone marrow transplant? DO YOU KNOW WHAT BLOOD CANCER IS? It is a disease that occurs in the blood. Our blood is made up of three types of cells: red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Blood cancer crowds out the healthy blood cells so they can’t do their jobs. Do you know what the treatments for cancer are called? SENIORS: Notes have been put on your lockers concerning your Jostens order. If you got a postcard on your locker, that means you still owe Jostens. DO NOT LOSE THAT CARD! It has your ID on it so your Jostens payment can be made online. Everything needs to be paid for before the items can be released to you. Jostens will notify me when they receive your payment. If you received a small piece of paper (not a postcard), that means your order is paid in full and you may pick up your cap and gown in the office.
