Fun Times at
White City Title 1 Parent Night The Title 1 students and their parents spent the evening receiving information, eating and snuggling in with several good books. Ms. Nittler gave each of the students a sack that included booklets on how to help your child be a better reader, a free t-shirt, and a phonics activity book. Mrs. Gant, the school counselor, talked to the parents and students about respect. Also discussed was the importance of reading to and with your child every day, as well as providing a positive example by allowing your child to see you read. We all know that with our busy lives we don’t always have the time to sit down and read, but taking even a few minutes out for a newspaper article confirms to your child the importance of reading in everyday life. Add reading a short story to your bedtime routine and go from there. The discussion of reading was followed by a short rhyming activity taken from the activity book provided in the student packages. Pizza and drinks were served and then we settled in for a short read-in. |
