Mrs. Hickert’s, 23 year teaching and administrative career has included five years in Herndon, KS, 1985-1990, teaching Elementary School. She moved from Herndon to Stanton County School District in Johnson, KS to teach Elementary School from 1990-2001, Title 1 Reading Teacher and Federal Programs Director for three years, 2001-2004. She served as Stanton County Middle School Principal year 2003-2004 and had the opportunity to start the districts Point Rock Academy Alternative High School in 2004. Mrs. Hickert began her duties as Superintendent of USD 481 in July 2007. Rural Vista 481 is excited to have Renae Hickert leading our district. Her educational experience is most impressive. Her ability to be creative in reaching out to non-traditional students using technology and alternative methods was of great interest to the board. Because Mrs. Hickert has a good, realistic knowledge of rural schools, she will be an excellent fit for Rural Vista. Mrs. Hickert, and her husband, Tim have two children, a son, Aaron (17) who is attending Seward County Community College and a daughter, Reagan (12) currently a sixth grader at Stanton County School District. Tim currently works for Skyland Grain in Walsh, Colorado as an agronomy manager. Info provided by Mrs. McDaniel, Board Clerk
