April 2010
We are in that mad dash to the end of the school year with everyone feeling they are in fast forward. We can though breathe a bit of a sigh of relief knowing the Kansas Assessments are through for another year. Once again our students stepped up and showed what they are capable of; the numbers are great and the performance was admirable. What they have once again accomplished shows what great kids we have and the quality staff at White City Schools. The following numbers are preliminary figures for the Kansas Assessment from KSDE.
White City Elementary School (3rd, 4th and 5th) Reading – 96% meets standard and above Math – 92% meets standard and above Science – 93% meets standard and above
One stand out for the Elementary School is 3rd grade math with 100% of students meeting standard or above. Fantastic job to the 3rd grade class and Mrs. Hinkle. Also in the Elementary School is Mrs. Kroupa’s 5th grade reading with 100% of students meeting standard or above. Great job to Mrs. Kroupa and the 5th grade class.
White City Junior High Charter School (6th, 7th and 8th) Reading – 100% meets standard and above Math – 81% meets standard and above Science – 88% meets standard and above
I wanted to give all Mrs. Poston’s reading classes a big congratulation as It is quite a feat to have every student from the 6th, 7th and 8th grades score meets standard and above. Great job Junior High students and great job Mrs. Polston.
White City High School (not including banked scores) Reading – 94% meets standard and above Math – 74% meets standard and above Physical Science – 91% meets standard and above Life Science – 100% meets standard and above
Congratulations to Ms. Shook and her life science students with their 100% meeting standard or above.
I want to thank the teachers for all their preparation and hard work that went into this. White City Schools will once again meet the state standard for AYP.
